How I Got Tickets to the Chelsea Game
I am a huge fan of Chelsea, as are a number of my friends. Last week we were out for lunch and decided it would be a fun time to get tickets for the next game. There were three of us total and decided it would be most efficient for me to go down to the ticket seller to get them after my next shift.
Once I got down there, however, there was a huge line which made me slightly anxious. I tried bribing my way up in in line. The first few people accepted and I eventually spent enough money to buy a fourth Chelsea ticket. This didn't deter me, however. I was going to go see the next game no matter what.
I was able to bribe my way forward a little bit more, but eventually got stuck from this big guy from the United States. Apparently, he had never seen a Chelsea game ever and was going to be sure he got the tickets he wanted. No matter how hard I tried, he refused to let me pass him. “I'm going to that game,” he kept saying.
After another few minutes, he finally got to the window. He asked for two tickets and bought them. At least I was still going to get tickets, I thought. But that's when it happened – the woman working the ticket stand slammed the window shut and put up a sign that said “Sold Out.”
I was absolutely distraught. For the next few minutes, I stood there pleading with passers-by that there must be some sort of mistake. There was no way I was going to miss the chance to get Chelsea tickets.
That was when I developed a plan. I would sit outside the stadium for the next few days, begging for tickets. I gave no thought about the consequences, I just knew I needed tickets.
I stopped by my house and returned to the stadium, fully ready to spend the next three days camping next to the facility, holding up a sign that said “Need Chelsea Tickets, Will Pay Anything.”
That is when the police approached me. Apparently, its illegal to set up a camp in front of the stadium. They kindly escorted me off the property and threw my sign away.
I called one of my buddies to get his opinion. He said he might know a guy who had Chelsea tickets but it was going to cost us and we'd have to show up at his work that night.
Little did I know that this guy worked in a morgue. Still, we wanted to go to the game so me and my friend arrived after midnight to get the tickets. The morgue was creepy and smelled kind of funny, but I just kept thinking about the game.
Sure enough, his friend sold us the tickets and we had to pay double. We left and that was it. Problem was we ended up paying for the equivalence of seven Chelsea tickets and the worst part about the whole thing was I couldn't get the smell of the morgue out of my head. That is, until we got to the game and then we had the time of our lives.
